We all do it now and then, whether we like to admit it or not, but on September 19th you can say it loud and proud! What’s It All About? Well in 1995 two men with little to no skill in racquetball began to encourage each other by shouting piratey encouragement and mild insults during a game. They enjoyed it so much that they decided then and there that there should be a holiday where everyone has to talk like a pirate! For seven years John Baur and Mark Summers celebrated their holiday between themselves and friends, until they chanced upon the e-mail of a man they wanted to be the spokesman for their event, Dave Barry. Ok, so let’s talk about Suicide Squad... It may not have received glowing reviews from all of the critics, but that hasn’t stopped people flocking in their thousands to catch a glimpse of DC’s best bad guys! The Stars We’ve known the stars of this movie for a long time now and marketing weren’t shy with the teasers and clips. Margot Robbie was the perfect blend of sexy and kooky for her role as Harley Quinn. It will definitely be one of the most iconic roles of her career and we hope to see more of her in upcoming DC movies! Will Smith will always be a great action hero and Suicide Squad proves he’s still got it. He’s stern, strong and the perfect person to play Dead Shot. He also delivers one of the best comedy lines of the movie when referring to the Doomsday machine as a “swirling ring of trash”. Apart from little snippet’s and stills, we didn’t get to see too much of Jared Leto’s Joker. He definitely made this role his own with sarcasm and psychosis that rivals Jack Nicholson’s rendition. Bournemouth Air Festival brings you a long weekend of the best air, land and sea displays in the country from Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st August. Bournemouth Air Festival Earlier this year, in May, Bournemouth Air Festival was awarded gold by Visit England and is officially the best tourism event in the whole country! If that wasn’t enough to draw you in then just check out what they have to offer you in 2016! The Red Arrows have been confirmed for all 4 days of the festival once again! They are a firm family favourite year in, year out, so it’s only right to have them headline Bournemouth Air festival. The RN Black Cats helicopter display team will also be performing over the weekend along with the Tigers Freefall Parachute Display Team and the mighty RAF Typhoon. New for 2016, the Swiss Air Force Super Puma Display Team will also be joining us! Christchurch Carnival The Christchurch Carnival has now been running for over 100 years and we have local residents and volunteers to thank for that. The entire weekend is arranged and run by willing volunteers who spend months putting together the best local event for the summer. Of course, it would all be for nothing without the support of the local community so do your bit and take the family down to see what they have for you to enjoy this year! Every year local charities receive donations from the money raised by Christchurch Carnival so that the funds go back in to the local community. This year’s beneficiaries will be ................ So far the new Ghostbusters movie has received a very mixed reception of praise and criticism. The first movie trailer was notoriously the most disliked YouTube has seen! We’ll just have to wait until this Friday (15th July) to find out for ourselves if this will be a huge hit or a massive flop! Ghostbusters In 1984 the world was given the gift of Ghostbusters with the original movie starring acting legends Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver. The Ray Parker Jr. theme tune “Who You Gonna Call?” was catchy, the acting was comical and the action was spot on. What more could you want? Well a sequel of course! While it wasn’t as big as the original, it still received high praise. Since then, it has kept a strong cult following and merchandise has always been available with that iconic logo. For one whole week the picturesque seaside town of Swanage will be transformed for the Swanage Regatta and Carnival! There will be something to do for all ages every day so make the most of it and head down from the 30th July to the 6th August! Swanage Regatta The sun is shining so why not try your hand at some sporting events? Prizes will be on offer for all age groups throughout the week, so show them what you’ve got! There will be plenty on offer including fun runs, tennis, sailing, darts and even fishing. Sadly there will be no half marathon this year due to safety concerns and road closures, Swanage Carnival This year’s carnival procession will have a ‘Sitcom’ theme so expect to see all of your favourite TV characters old and new! As always it will take place on the Sunday 31st July at 3pm and will begin at Rabling Road, coming full circle back to that point. On Monday 4th July the USA will be alive with celebration of their most famous national holiday! This year will mark the 240th year. Why The 4th July? The 4th July is a holiday known worldwide and is a celebration of American independence. In 1776 the second continental congress met in secret to vote on the resolution of independence to separate them from the rule of Great Britain. Last year marked the 10th year of Winton Carnival and the bar was well and truly raised with a stunning turn out! 2016 has a lot to live up to, but we recon we can put on an even better show this year. Winton Carnival Winton Carnival has always been a non-profit event run by volunteers from the local community and we can certainly say that they have done us proud for the last 10 years. Over 7,000 people join in the fun at Winton carnival so make sure you’re one of them. The Rocky Horror Picture Show 1975-2016 The 2 hour television show will be celebrating Rocky Horror’s 40 years of theatrical distribution, which is longer than any film in history! It’s such a popular movie that it still shows in cinemas today and there have been countless stage shows across the world. The Rocky Horror Picture Show was everything you could have asked for in a film. It had mystery, scares, glitz and the catchiest songs in the history of cinema, what’s not to love?! At the heart of it all was actor and legend Tim Curry who owned the role of sexually ambiguous Dr Frank N Furter. He delivered his lines like he was born for the role and the energy was infectious. It’s been an exciting FA Cup and now it’s all coming to a close with a head to head between Manchester United and Crystal Palace! On Saturday 21st May, watch as these boys make history at Wembley Stadium. The FA Cup Final 2016 marks the 135th FA Cup Final, making it the world’s oldest football competition! History is repeating itself this year too as it will be the first time since 1990 that Manchester United and Crystal Palace have gone against each other in the FA Cup Final. The London 7’s is an annual rugby sevens tournament which is going to be held at Twickenham on the 21st -22nd May 2016, London. The Game is popular at all levels with amateur and club tournaments throughout the summer months. Rugby sevens (seven-a-side) is one of the most well distributed forms of rugby and continents such as Africa, Asia, Europe and America have taken a particular shine to the sport. The 2015-16 seasons kicked off in Dubai on 4th-5th December 2015 and will visit 5 new destinations, Cape Town, Vancouver, Singapore and Paris. London will be the last major tournament for many of the nations before they Travel to Rio to compete at 2016 Olympic Games. In 2009 England made a momentous comeback in front of 35,000 fans beating New Zealand with a score in the final second of overtime. Come on England! Twickenham Stadium Twickenham is a stadium in Twickenham, south west London, England. It is primarily a venue for rugby union and hosts England's home test matches, You wouldn’t think that this well-known stadium started off as a cabbage patch but that's exactly what it was before the RFU (Rugby Football Union) purchased the land for just over £5,500 in 1907.
