Easter is coming up soon – are you ready? This holiday originates from an old Christian festival and it celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after he was crucified. It is preceded by Lent, which is a 40 day period of prayer, fasting and penance. Easter occurs every year on the first Sunday after the full moon following the March equinox.

Of course, Easter has evolved over the years and these days there are new Easter customs that are celebrated by Christians and non-Christians – such as hunting for eggs, Easter parades and the idea of the Easter bunny.

So You are Going to an Easter Party?

Many people, whether religious or not, like to host an Easter party during this time of year – especially because it is a public holiday from work. They might colour hardboiled eggs, have a hunt for chocolate eggs or do other traditional Easter activities.

If you are going to an Easter Themed Fancy Dress Party, the host might encourage guests to arrive in fancy dress. If this is the case, what should you wear for the Easter Party? Here are some ideas to consider:

Bunny Rabbit

One of the easiest costumes for an Easter party is a bunny costume. Everyone will make the connection to the Easter bunny, especially if you carry a basket of brightly coloured eggs. There are a lot of different bunny costumes out there, many which are warm and cosy with lots of fur and a funny cartoon head. Also, this costume will keep you very warm and comfortable – which is nice because sometimes the spring evenings can still be a little chilly.

Easter Egg

Another fun idea is to dress up like an Easter egg. You could create the egg yourself out of cardboard or another lightweight material, then paint it with bright colours or decorate it with shiny foil. Cut arm, leg and face holes in the egg and then you will be ready to have an egg-cellent time!

Yellow Chick

Kids Chicken WI-KA4417Another creature that has been associated with Easter over the year is the adorable baby yellow chick. While the connection isn’t exactly clear, perhaps it is because Easter is a spring celebration and fuzzy yellow chicks signify the new growth of springtime. Either way, you could attend your Easter party dressed as an adorable baby bird. There are many chick costumes out there, or you could make your own with fuzzy yellow material, a beak and some wings.

These are just a few of the typical costumes that you might wear to an Easter Fancy Dress party. However, you don’t have to go with the typical choices – you might want to think outside the box and try something different. Of course, whatever you choose you should make sure that it is not offensive to your guests or anyone at the party. For many people, Easter is a religious holiday and is taken seriously, so humorous or rude religious costumes might tread a thin line – depending on the sensitivities of the crowd.
