The 88th Academy Award Oscars will be taking place on Sunday 28th February. Who is your favourite actor this year? What will be Oscarsthe best film? The suspense is killing us! Will this be DiCaprio’s year for an Oscar?! Who knows?

The Oscars

There are some HUGE contenders for this year’s Oscars including the running for visual effects which is a massive fantasy battle between mega hits like Star Wars, Mad Max and Jurassic World! How are they ever going to choose? The nominees for the Original Score category are longer than your arm; including “Bride of Spies” and “The Hateful Eight” and the leading actress competition is fierce.

The biggest rivals for 2016 seem to be Mad Max and The Revenant, both appearing in every category relevant to their film style! You will be able to cut the tension with a knife this year and I’m sure both titles will be taking home an award or two. If Oscar’s history is anything to go by Tom Hardy will win his nomination for The Revenant and leave poor Leo empty handed. Seriously, how has this guy never won?! We hope that they are secretly planning something really special for him!

Chris Rock will be hosting this year’s extravaganza so you’re sure to have a good laugh as you relive a year of fantastic cinematic achievements. This will not be his first time presenting the event as you may remember he hosted in 2005 as well. With roles as an actor, writer, director, documentarian and a comedian, he’s certainly qualified for the job!

Once again Eddy Redmayne has proved himself a true chameleon actor in his role as transgender character Lili Elbe in “The Danish Girl”. He has been nominated for best leading actor and the film itself has received a host of nominations including costume and production design. He has previously astounded audiences with his heart wrenching performance as Steven Hawking in “The Theory of Everything” which gained him his first academy award.

Party!

If you’re having an Oscar’s themed night as you watch the show on Sunday 28th then you need some themed decorations! Here at Hollywood we have gold tinsel curtains to give you a glitzy entrance or even cover your walls. We have latex and foil balloons in gold and black for an elegant touch as well as movie themed table confetti. For some extra touches why not add some gold ‘Oscar’ statues or clapper boards. To really bring your theme to life why not don a shiny gold skin suit and be the award yourself!
