Winton Carnival 2015
What To Expect From Winton?
People flock in their thousands to enjoy Winton’s annual carnival events and this year will be bigger and better than ever. Each year a small, dedicated and hard working community group come together to plan this huge non-profit event. It’s all about fun, family and bringing the town together.
Variety is the spice of life and there is certainly no shortage of it at Winton Carnival. There is no set theme to the parade so each group can choose what they want their floats and costumes to be. Each year the public are treated to big bold and bright entries from local businesses, schools and local community groups.
The fun kicks off at 10:45am with the Bournemouth Carnival Band who love nothing more than to get dressed up and play us the best big band music around. At 11am the parade will officially be set off by David Squire, a man that everyone in the South knows and loves and is the world’s longest serving town crier! They will follow a route down Wimborne Road, passing through Cardigan Road and Maxwell Road, before arriving at Winton Recreation Ground.
The fun doesn’t end there though as at the recreation grounds there will be all manner of excitement waiting! A stage will be set up to keep everyone entertained with live music and dancing all afternoon. There will also be a fun fair for all of the family to enjoy and stalls selling food, drinks and nick nacks too.
The Hollywood team will not be missing out on any of the action. We will be in the parade so be sure to keep an eye out for our famous Hollywood van. After the parade we will also be at the recreation ground so come and meet us and maybe even grab yourself some vouchers! See you there!
