STAR WARS DAY 2021
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away
A day was born to celebrate all that is star wars. Star Wars day would be forever held on May 4th.
Star Wars Day, May 4, is a celebration of George Lucas's Star Wars media franchise. Avid fans observed the commemorative day, and it spread quickly through media and grassroots celebrations. The date was chosen for the pun on the catchphrase "May the Force be with you" as "May the Fourth be with you". Many Star Wars fans across the world have chosen to celebrate the holiday. It has since been embraced by Lucasfilm and Disney as an annual celebration of Star Wars.
The Films and Characters
The Original Trilogy
In the 1970's and 1980's you had the first three films, with episode IV, V and VI. With the much loved main characters including Princess Leia, played by the late great Carrie Fisher.
The primary antagonist Darth Vader, played by the late David Prowse.
The Prequel Trilogy
Then in the late 1990's and early 2000's came the next three films, Episodes I, II AND III, which followed the progression of Anakin Skywalker becoming Darth Vader.
We meet Darth Maul in Episode I, who happens to be Sith apprentice to Darth Sidious
In this trilogy we also see the early years of Jedi knight Obi-Wan 'Ben' Konbi played by Ewan McGregor.
The Sequel Trilogy
The final three films in the franchise came in the late 2010's and were episodes VII, VIII, AND IX. These films covered the later years of Princess Leia and Han Solo, and we were introduce to their son Kyle Ren
Also we were introduced to Rey the last Jedi Apprentice to Luke and Leia, who also happens to be the granddaughter of Palpatine.
We were also introduced to the adorably cute Porg's. According to Wookieepedia they are a sea dwelling bird.
But how can we forget the good old stormtrooper. They have appeared in all nine films, and we have costumes for ladies, men's and kids, so you can build your own family army of troopers.
Need more reason's for celebrating the awesomeness of star wars, some recognize the following day, May 5, as "Revenge of the Fifth", a play on Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and celebrate the Sith Lords. Others celebrate this one day later, on May 6, citing "Revenge of the Sixth" as a better play on "Sith". So whether you have embraced the dark side or are at one with the force. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.
