When it comes to men’s Halloween costumes, there are few more classic than Frankenstein’s monster. Frankenstein is probably the earliest science fiction story (or at least a very old horror story, depending on where you want to draw up your genre boundaries), and over the years has seen a huge number of different incarnations and spin offs on the silver screen. He’s been portrayed seriously, such as in 1994’s ‘Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein’, and not-quite-so-seriously, such as in 1999’s ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks meet Frankenstein’. And this slew of cinema shows no signs of slowing, with ‘Victor Frankenstein’ due for release in late 2015.
But of all these interpretations of the famous monster, our favourite (and that of almost everyone) is the square-headed version made famous by Boris Karloff. And it’s this version that has informed the design behind this fantastic costume. With the iconic angular cranium, complete with bolts and attached fake hair, misshapen shoulders created by a padded top, along with a shirt printed with gears and stitches and green jagged-hemline trousers, you’ll be able to bring a touch of Frankenstein’s hideous creation to the party as never before.
