Dads. They are the heroes that don't wear capes (At least not all the time), but they are always watching out for you. This Father's Day, take a minute to appreciate all of those tough times that daddy got you through. The modern day father has a lot to contend with now that toddlers know how to use iPhones and everyone loves dressing up (Sorry!), but there are plenty who take this all in their stride! The biggest comic convention in Britain is coming and it is going to be awesome! While Bournemouth has done well taking on its own film and comic con event, it is simply dwarfed by the magnitude of the MCM Comic Con in London. There will be stalls as far as the eye can see selling memorabilia, comics, signed prints and plenty of handmade goodies too. Children In Need is back this year and even bigger, with more excitement, courage and entertainment packed into one night than ever before! There will even be a space themed surprise! What To expect? This year’s Children In Need show will fall on one of the most unlucky days of the year, Friday 13th November, but fear not, there will be an imperial army on hand to defend us! This year the BBC has teamed up with Lucasfilm and Disney for a one off, extra special surprise! That’s right; there will be a Star Wars sketch! C-3PO, R2-D2 and everyone’s favourite Ewok, Warwick Davis will join forces to find a worthy human to trigger the totaliser for the night. Continue reading →

It Is Time...Done your capes, put your underwear on the outside of your trousers and show off your super hero style for this year’s Children In Need extravaganza! BBC’s Children In Need is an annual charity event designed to help children nationwide. Money donated by volunteers and fundraisers goes towards funding activities, events and schemes for disabled children and disadvantaged young people. Most people know BBC Children In Need by the telethon shown on BBC One each November. This year it will be broadcasted live from Albert Square, famously the set of hit British soap Eastenders. Sir Terry Wogan will be hosting as he has been since the first televised appeal in 1980 and will of course be joined by everyone’s favourite bear, Pudsey! Pudsey has been the poster child for Children In Need since 1985 when first created by BBC graphic designer Joanna Ball. Before being re-designed a year later Pudsey was depicted with a sad expression and was also orange, rather than the sunshine yellow we know and love today. Continue reading →
